Book Reviews: 2013

December 31, 2013 – Today’s post at the  AIChE CheEnected blog includes a book review of  “Playing to Win” by AG Lafley and Roger Martin.

Playing to Win is a great book that outlines five key questions that every organization must address in order to be successful in innovation.  These questions identify a firm’s winning aspiration, where to engage the markets, how to win (strategy), core capabilities, and special management systems that lead to long-term success.

As former and current CEO of Procter and Gamble, AG Lafley shares stories that are directly related to profitability by clearly and concisely addressing these five areas of strategy.  An important aspect of learning strategy is learning how to develop skills and communication pathways for open debate and discussion.
