Surveys are a market research technique used in new product development (NPD). A survey is a fixed set of questions asked of a certain set of respondents. In many cases, surveys can be considered quantitative market research because a large, statistically significant data set is collected. Surveys administered by the company conducting the NPD effort are considered primary market research.
